Getting Started With Task Pigeon: Creating Tasks & Checklists

If you have been following our Getting Started With Task Pigeon series you should now have a good understanding of:

In this post, we will, therefore, look at populating your dashboard and focus on creating tasks. In Task Pigeon there are two primary task types:

Each task type can also be turned into a recurring task or marked as private (to restrict the visibility of the task to only the people you choose). These features will, however, be covered later on in this series.

Creating A General Task

Creating a new task in Task Pigeon is easy. From any view in your Task Pigeon account, you can click the “+ New Task” button displayed in the left-hand window to open a new task.

The only field that is mandatory when creating a new task is the task heading.

When creating a general task you also have the option to:

  • Add a detailed text-based description
    • This includes the option to format your text, embed images or code, create bullet points or numbered lists
  • Add attachments from your computer, Google Drive, Dropbox, Microsoft OneDrive and Box
  • Assign a priority to the task
  • Set a deadline
  • Associate your task with a category or sub-category
  • Assign the task to one or more members of your team
  • Mark the task to be recreated on a schedule with our recurring task option
  • Mark the task as private so it can only be seen by the users assigned to the task.

Creating A Checklist Task

Creating a checklist task follows a similar process as a text-based task. Once you click the “+ new task” button in the left-hand menu of your dashboard you need to toggle to the checklist option.

With a checklist task, you then have the ability to create individual line items that can be independently marked of as complete.

With a checklist task you still also have the ability to:

  • Add attachments from your computer, Google Drive, Dropbox, Microsoft OneDrive and Box
  • Assign a priority to the task
  • Set a deadline
  • Associate your task with a category or sub-category
  • Assign the task to one or more members of your team
  • Mark the task to be recreated on a schedule with our recurring task option
  • Mark the task as private so it can only be seen by the users assigned to the task.
