Sitting At The Foot Of The Mountain – The July Monthly Report

It has been a long, long, lllloooonnnnngggggg July!

I have an absolutely AMAZING team working with me now, but amazing work takes time. We were behind on the release of the V2 of Task Pigeon, but it is finally here. In fact, by the time you read this it will have gone live and the last few bugs will hopefully be ironed out.

So what has this meant for Task Pigeon as a business?

Well it has been a bit of a forced holding pattern. Not only have I been building up all my marketing reserves for our new launch, but I did cut back slightly on the blogging front. It was time to take stock of the posts, work out what posts do well, and what posts don’t quite get the reach I would hope for.

The good news is, you, my audience, seem to love these updates! They are amongst the most read and commented on posts!

So let’s dive in.

Web Traffic – July 2017

Sitting At The Foot Of The Mountain - The July Monthly Report - Web Traffic

  • Total sessions decreased from 1,305 to 1,061
  • Users decreased from 945 to 807.
  • Pageviews dropped from 2,023 to 1,596.

On face value this looks bad! But, I have been doing very little marketing myself, so this traffic is largely finding its own way to Task Pigeon. And not only that I have seen a steady increase in the number of keywords Task Pigeon now ranks for. I use a tool called SpyFu (and it’s been awesome for me).

Blog Traffic – July 2017

I only wrote 1 post last month myself. And published one guest post so I wasn’t expecting anything great here!

Total sessions decreased from 1,746 to 1,056, Users creased from 1,428 to 880. And page views obviously took a hit too. But With the V2 launch, I have a plan in place to correct the decline. I call it my 30 in 30 and will be detailing what it entails in a new blog post shortly.

Revenue – July 2017

Sitting At The Foot Of The Mountain - The July Monthly Report - Revenue

Revenue for July was somewhat surprising. I thought our Stack Social campaign was done, but it has one last kick and bought in $310 USD! Which while down on last month was a nice little bonus.

Expenditure – July 2017

Sitting At The Foot Of The Mountain - The July Monthly Report - Expenditure

Expenditure dropped slightly in July as my team finished off creating the new version. They then moved into bug fixing mode, which I am not charged for.

Other expenses were largely just for AWS hosting, Sendgrid, and some domain names I purchased. In total expenditure was $6,942.74.

User Numbers – July 2017

Sitting At The Foot Of The Mountain - The July Monthly Report - Users

Surprisingly user numbers remained fairly flat even though I am not filling the top of the funnel as much. We had 136 new users, as opposed to 141 last month, potentially signalling that while traffic was down the quality of the visitor increased.

The user experience (which we are fixing with V2) has however continued to be a drain and monthly active users dropped for 75.

Looking Forward

I don’t want to sound like a broken record but V2 is my focus. I am then designing a 30 day campaign to get Task Pigeon cranking and I will share that with you all shortly on this blog.
