Task Pigeon Now Integrates With 750+ Apps Through Zapier

Task Pigeon now integrates with 750+ apps through Zapier, including all of the tools you know and love such as:

  • Gmail
  • Slack
  • Google Docs / Google Sheets
  • Evernote
  • Dropbox
  • Saleforce
  • Mailchimp
  • Facebook
  • Twitter, and much, much more

The integration through Zapier is available for users on our paid/premium account (and/or people currently in the 14 day trial period)

For those not familiar with Zapier, it is a simple and easy to use solution that allows you to automate asks and move information between web apps automatically. And best of all they have a free plan so you can get up and running straight away.

The Task Pigeon integration with Zapier is currently in private beta, so to get access you need to follow this link. To help get you started we have put together a few of our favorite Zaps:

Notify A Slack Channel When A New Task Is Created

Through Zapier Task Pigeon can now integrate with Slack.

Step One:

  • Join the beta version of Task Pigeon via Zapier
  • You will then be asked to create your first “Zap” and need to select the Task Pigeon Beta > Then “New Task” as the trigger.

Step Two

  • The first time you are using Task Pigeon with Zapier you will need to “Connect a New Account”.

Step Three

You now need to “connect” your Task Pigeon account. These details are as follows:

  • Company Name: This is the DOMAIN name you chose when you set up your Task Pigeon account and has no spaces.
  • Email: The email you use for your Task Pigeon Account
  • Password: The password you use for your Task Pigeon Account.

Step Four

You have now completed the first half of your “Zap”.

  • Next up you need to find the app you wish to integrate with. In this case we are selecting “Slack”.

Step Five

There are a variety of options for consider but in this example we are selecting “Send Channel Message”. This will post a new message to a specific Slack channel every time a new task is created.

Step Six

You now have the ability to define the contents of the message.

  • First select the channel you wish the message to be posted to. In this instance we have selected “General”. Once you have connected your Slack account all of the channels you have previously created will show under the drop down arrow.
  • You can then define the message text. This can be a mixture of text you choose to write or a variable field that Zapier will pull from Task Pigeon. In the example below you can see that the variable fields we are using relate to the task “headline” and the “User First Name” and “User Last Name” it has been created for.

Step Seven

The integration is now complete. Log into your Slack account and any time you create a new task in Task Pigeon a message will also be posted to the channel of your choosing.

Create A New Task Via Email

When you are out and about sometimes you need to create a task or reminder for when you are back in the office. With Zapier you can now create tasks via email for Task Pigeon.

Step One

  • Create a new “zap” and scroll down to the “Built-In Apps” provided by Zapier.
  • Select the “Email Option”

Step Two

  • Select the “Trigger” New Inbound Email.

Step Three

  • Zapier now asks you to create a custom email address.
  • Tip: You can save this email to your address book with a name that is easier to remember. I.e. Save it as “New Task For Task Pigeon”. That way you just email “New Task For Task Pigeon” whenever you want to create a new task.

Step Four

You now need to connect the next step of this “Zap” which is to use Task Pigeon.

  • Select the Task Pigeon Beta App from the drop down/search field.
  • If you haven’t already Zapier will ask you to log into your Task Pigeon account. Remember that the company field is the DOMAIN you created for Task Pigeon and contains no spaces. For example at Task Pigeon our Company/Domain name is “teamtaskpigeon”.

Step Five

  • Choose the action “Create a New Task”

Step Six

Fill in the fields you want each task to create from email.

  • Members: is the team members you want the task to be assigned to. Or you can leave it blank for now and add these when you have the chance to log back into Task Pigeon.
  • Category: is the category you want the task to be assigned to. This is also an optional field.
  • Headline: is the Task Heading. Select “Subject” from the drop down menu and this will mean that the subject you use in the email you create will be used as the heading for the new task.
  • Deadline: For deadline you can take the “raw date” of the email and then add an amount of time to it. For example we have used + 72h so that each task we email has a deadline 3 days from now.
  • Details: Select the “plain body text” of the email. This will be used to fill in the details field of the task you create.

Step Seven

Your ability to email new tasks to Task Pigeon is now complete!

Create Recurring Tasks

Step One

  • Create a new “Zap”
  • Scroll down to the built in apps and select “Schedule”

Step Two

  • Select how often you want the task to be posted. I.e. You could create a task to complete a new weekly report each Monday at 9am.

  • Specific the specific requirements of your schedule.
  • In our example we have asked that the new task be created each Monday at 9am.

Step Four

You now need to connect the next step of this “Zap” which is to use Task Pigeon.

  • Select the Task Pigeon Beta App from the drop down/search field.
  • If you haven’t already Zapier will ask you to log into your Task Pigeon account. Remember that the company field is the DOMAIN you created for Task Pigeon and contains no spaces. For example at Task Pigeon our Company/Domain name is “teamtaskpigeon”.

  • Select the action you want to take. In this instance you want to select “Create New Task”

Step Six

  • You now want to fill out the details of the recurring task. This includes selecting the members it is assigned to, the category, task heading and requirements. You can also select a due date with a variable field by adding “+ 72h” or another number of your choosing.

Step Seven

You have now set up a recurring task for Task Pigeon. It will fire every week (or day or month if that is what you selected) until you turn the “zap” off again.

Create A Task From Gmail

Lots of people like working from their email. And every now and then you get an email that requires your attention and essentially becomes a task to complete. With Zapier you can now instantly add emails to your task dashboard.

This is available for a large number of email providers, but in today’s example we will just look at Gmail.

Step One

  • Select “Gmail” for the list of available apps.
  • You will then be asked to log into your Gmail account.

  • .Select a method of “marking” emails you wish to turn into tasks. In this instance we select the “New Starred Email” trigger. Any time you “star” an email via Gmail that email will now be turned into a task on your Task Pigeon dashboard.Task Pigeon Integrates With Gmail - Step 2

Step Three

You now need to connect the next step of this “Zap” which is to use Task Pigeon.

  • Select the Task Pigeon Beta App from the drop down/search field.
  • If you haven’t already Zapier will ask you to log into your Task Pigeon account. Remember that the company field is the DOMAIN you created for Task Pigeon and contains no spaces. For example at Task Pigeon our Company/Domain name is “teamtaskpigeon”.

Step Five

You now have the ability to define the task details associated with any email you “star”. For example:

  • You can select that the email is always assigned to a specific team member.
  • You can select a category for it to be added to as a task. For example “Emails” to follow up.
  • Headline: With headline you should select the variable field “Subject” this will mean that the subject of the email now becomes the task heading in your dashboard.
  • Details: For details you should select the body of the email. This means that the copy in the body of the email will now be included in the task description.

Step Six

You can now “Star” any email in Gmail and have it turn into a task on your Task Pigeon dashboard.

Sync Task Due Dates With Google Calendar

Step One

  • Click create a new “Zap”
  • Select Task Pigeon as the start of this “zap”. If you haven’t already you will be asked to sign into your Task Pigeon account.

  • Select “New Action” as the task you wish to use.

Step Three

  • You now need to select the other side of this “Zap”.
  • Search for Google Calendar in the app directory. If you haven’t already you will be asked to log into your Google account.

Step Four

You now need to populate your calendar entry with details from Task Pigeon.

  • Choose the calendar you wish the task to be posted to.
  • For summary select “Headline” this is the task headline you choose when you create a new task.
  • Description – For description you can select the details of the task to provide further information.
  • For both start and end date you can select the “deadline”.

Step Five

Task Pigeon has now integrated with Google Calendar. Anytime you create a new task the deadline will also be added to your calendar.
